UK MP crowdfunds for Kenyan murder victim

A UK legislator is urging people to take part in crowdfunding for a Kenyan mother allegedly killed by British soldiers.

Labour MP Jess Phillips started the funds drive to assist Agnes Wanjiru’s family that had to raise her daughter after she was killed.

Ms Phillips shared a Sunday Times’ article about alleged Facebook posts by a British soldier joking about the murder.

The crowdfund has crossed £7,000 ($9,500) and targets to raise £10,000.

Ms Wanjiru was allegedly killed by a British soldier in 2012 and her body found in a sceptic tank at a hotel three months after she was seen with the soldiers.

The UK’s Ministry of Defence has said it is co-operating with a Kenyan inquiry into her death after a Sunday Times report.
