Digitalization in Shambles: “Broken Promises and Economic Mismanagement” A legacy of Nana Addo- Bawumia Government

Ahmed M. Gedel writes:

The Nana-Addo and Dr. Bawumia-led NPP government has been plagued by a plethora of broken promises, economic mismanagement, and corruption

The government’s 2016 campaign promises of economic growth, job creation, and corruption eradication have fallen short.

Ghanaians have witnessed an unprecedented decline in economic stability, with rising inflation, a depreciating cedi,(15GH=$1) and widespread unemployment.

The touted “Digital Ghana” agenda has failed to materialize, leaving the country and the people in total disarray.

The government’s economic stewardship has been marred by poor decision-making, cronyism, and corruption. The cedi has suffered a significant decline, and the country’s debt has ballooned. The much-touted “Ghana Beyond Aid” mantra has become a hollow slogan, as the country continues to rely heavily on foreign aid.

The government’s inability to tackle the illegal mining (galamsey) crisis has led to environmental degradation, water pollution, and loss of livelihoods. Despite the assurances of a crackdown, the problem persists, with some government officials allegedly complicit in the illegal activity.

The government’s handling of the Cecilia Dapaah case has raised eyebrows. The controversial transfer of the case from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to the Attorney General’s office has sparked accusations of interference and cover-up.

The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) has also faced criticism for its perceived inaction on high-profile corruption cases.

Ghanaians demand accountability, transparency, and effective governance. It is time for the government to take responsibility for its actions and work towards a better future for all.
