Africa’s foremost sportswear producer’s CEO shares insight on Salisu’s snub

THE CEO of Mayniak Sportwear Rashid Zakari has shared insight of Salisu Mohammed’s blackstars snub

Mohammed Salisu Abdul Karim, a Ghanaian professional footballer who currently plays as a centre-back for Premier League club Southampton. HE started his senior career with Valladolid, featuring for the reserve side before making his first team debut in 2019. He made 34 appearances for the club before joining Southampton for a £10.9 million fee in 2020.

“Salisu’s performance tonight and his absence at AFCON doesn’t implicate the GFA in anyway. Man, was called up countless times and he’s rejected us on all occasions. Even to this AFCON he was invited and said he wasn’t ready! Cut the FA some slack haba! ..”

“There are 2 stories as to why he’s decided to rebuff us. The first one is that when he was making into the Ghana U-17 team, he was asked to pay a certain amount. Failure on his part in paying the amount led to him being dropped.

The second one too is that, he one time had an issue with FIFA which nearly resulted in him being banned by the football authorities for years. But God being good he escaped the punishment. His bone of contention with the FA is that, he had expected the GFA to help him solve the issue but they left him to his own fate.

What he needs to know is that, he can’t use a grudge he has against one single Ghanaian and deny us of his services. It’s an insult to all of us and please free KURT Okraku and the GFA people in some of these.”
