2022 World Cup Qualifiers: Ghana coach Akonnor to name Black Stars squad on Friday

Ghana coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor will announce his squad for next month’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Friday morning.

The Black Stars boss will meet the media at the Ghana Football Association (GFA)’s headquarters in Accra to name the players for the two matches against Ethiopia and South Africa.

Several players will return to the Black Stars squad while some others are expected to be given their maiden call-ups to the squad.

Players also from the local league are also expected to be called to the Black Stars.

Akonnor will be meeting the media for the third time since his appointment to name his squad ahead of the double-header in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

It will be the second time the Black Stars coach meets the press to announce his squad for the two games.

Ghana are scheduled to face their Group G opponents early next month.

The Black Stars will take on Ethiopia on Friday, September 3 in Cape Coast.

They will then travel to play South Africa on Monday, September 6, 2021 in Johannesburg.

The winner of the group will qualify for the final two-legged playoff which will involve other group winners.
